Scientific Awards

Staff from LOA has been awarded 57 prizes since 2008 (@july 2018). Since 2013, almost 45 % of the 32 prizes are attributed to LOA students for their PhD work and 18 awards or distinctions (15 international and 3 national) have honoured 8 LOA researchers or Engineers (Officer of the Physics Division of the European Academy of Sciences, Julius Springer-Prize, European Physical Society QEOD, Fresnel Prize, Holweck Société Française de Physique, fellows of and many other prizes). PhD students (24 awarded since 2013) have been assigned 14 prizes (8 from French institution like doctoral schools or scientific funding agencies and 6 at the international level).

LOA research programs involve very high technicality of experimental instrumentations. This is developed by talented technicians and engineers in the laboratory. A LOA Research Engineer has been awarded in 2017 the highest recognition at the French level of CNRS institute, the Crystal Medal, for the development of innovative experimental systems in ultrafast laser-plasma and pioneering X and XUV instrumentations for laser-plasma experiments. The CNRS crystal medal distinguishes engineers, technicians or administrators who, through their creativity, high level technical expertise and innovation, contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the excellence of the French research.
